A Unique Tribute
As a lifelong fan of the iconic TV show Futurama and a collector of chess sets, I embarked on a unique challenge: to sculpt a Futurama-themed chess set. Because, well, someone had to do it
Exploring the Universe of Futurama
In the process, I had the pleasure of "gathering references" for this project, which included extensive binge-watching of the series as my "homework" It was a tough job, but someone had to do it!
A Methodical Approach
I wanted the pieces to have a unified look, so I worked on all the characters together. First, I made a rough blockout of the main volumes and shapes of each, then I detailed and retopologize them. After that, I created distinct poses for each piece. Finally, I 3D printed the whole set.
A Twist on Chess
I invite you to explore the end result of this project. It was a labor of love, and I'm thrilled to share it with fellow Futurama enthusiasts and chess lovers. Additionally, this project gave my family and me a wonderful opportunity for quality time, as my son and I invented a unique twist on chess, inspired by the Futurama universe.
